3 Ways to Remove Bathroom Mold

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Knowing how to get rid of mold in showers, and keep it from returning, can save you both time and money. Here are 3 simple ways to remove bathroom mold.  Read on!

Scrub Away
To properly care for your bathroom and remove the mold from tile grout, you will need a good scrub brush and baking soda. To effectively scrub the mold away, treat the grout between tiles and the caulking with a paste made of water and baking soda. Leave on for as long as you need to—for example, very dirty grout can use an hour or two. Spray the tiles with water and use a scrub brush to clean the grout with a brisk back and forth motion. Rinse well and buff dry. Once you have scrubbed the grout, you can prolong your mold-removing efforts so that you do not have to use as much elbow grease next time! If your bathroom is not properly maintained between cleanings, it does not take long for mold to come back. In fact, think of mold prevention like oral care—we have to maintain our teeth to keep plaque away. Source: NaturallySavvy

Vinegar
Put mild white vinegar in a spray bottle without diluting it. Vinegar has a mild acidity, making anywhere you spray it very inhospitable for mold. Do not dilute the vinegar when placing it into the spray bottle; you want to use it at full-strength, not watered-down.
Spray the vinegar onto moldy surfaces and wait for an hour. If possible, let the bathroom air out during this time.
After an hour, wipe the area clean with hot water and dry the surface with a towel. Damp surfaces encourage mold growth, so be sure to wipe the area clean fully. After you have wiped the vinegar away, it should not smell anymore.
Use vinegar to prevent outbreaks of mold before they happen. Vinegar is reported to kill 82% of mold species, making it an exceptionally effective solution for preventing mold from inhabiting your bathroom like it owns the place. Plus, vinegar does not have any toxic fumes (like bleach) and is all-natural.

  • Simply spray a bit of vinegar onto a mold-prone surface and leave it. If you do this regularly, mold will have a tough time growing, and you will not have to remove it in the first place. Source: wikiHow

Hot Water and Baking Soda
You’ll need one teaspoon of washing up liquid, one cup of baking soda, and a few drops of something fragrant (we recommend lavender or citrus oil). Then add water and mix until the solution becomes a viscous paste and you’re done – a natural black mould remover. Source: Cleanipedia

Daily Schedule (September 1)

Today is Day B - 1

from Finalsite Academy News http://ift.tt/2bCWBGh

Principal's List September 1

The Principal's List is back!  Each list celebrates those students who have recently shown ISB Core Values (Global Mindedness, Integrity, Respect, Balance, Service, Creativity) in a way that got their teachers' attention.  A big thank to all these students for leading us all with their example.  They should each get a cool Principal's List badge from their homeroom teacher today!  A big thanks to our Middle School PTA for providing the badges!

Grade 6

Abigail Toone comes to each class ready to learn and participate fully.  She is also very quick to compliment the skills of her teammates.  Good sportsmanship, Abby!

Joel Kumi demonstrated excellent Respect and Integrity on MS Olympic day during Newcomb Ball. He encouraged team mates, showed great leadership, and tried to make sure that everyone on his team got a chance to play.

Integrity, respect: Katie Kim is always prepared, on time, helping others get organized and helpful to me, as well. She volunteers regularly in class, with enthusiasm.

Bryan Lim has really stepped up over the last two weeks by helping out his fellow classmates without being asked.

Hannah Wills has made a great impression on being new to ISB but also being new to her homeroom. She has shown 'Service' by being considerate of the class pet Chewbacca and feeding him when needed.

Erica Pan demonstrated caring, respect, and integrity by volunteering to be a mentor buddy for a new student. She took her responsibilities seriously and made sure the student was looked after and felt welcome during the first week of school. Erica has also set a good example for her peers through her positive attitude, excellent work habits,  and modeling of appropriate behavior.

Abby Toone showed a commitment to service when she volunteered to run an important errand for her teacher during Mentoring Class. Great job Abby.

Bersabeh Belay showed a commitment to service when she volunteered to run an important errand for her teacher during Mentoring class. Great job Bersabeh.

Eric Wang was absent early on in the year, and he showed integrity by coming to make up the work he had missed at lunch the day he returned to school. He immediately made up the classwork and the homework as best as he could.

Leon Guan demonstrated great responsibility and integrity as a learner last week, when he came in after school to ask questions about a science assignment. He didn't rush and took his time learning. Great job!

Jason Lau is new to ISB this year and is demonstrating balance in organizing his planner for his work load and in making new friends in grade 6! Way to go Jason!

Grade 7

Ben Bailey demonstrated integrity when he apologized and took ownership for disrupting our Chinese class when he entered the room late. He also demonstrated respect for our classroom guidelines and expectations.

Huck Henderschedt has shown great leadership and courage in his collaborative work during our first weeks of FA.  His thoughtfulness is particularly evident in his writing and discussion.

Ethan Koh showed his extraordinary tech skills by taking the lead to make the homeroom video for FA3.

Ben Bailey showed integrity when he brought the contents  (some money) of the desk he was sitting in, up to me, to make sure the owner might be found. I appreciated Ben's willingness to take care of the situation and the promptness with which he carried it out! Thanks, Ben!!!

Jerry Zheng showed integrity by turning in the money he found in the hallway.

Lynn Chen showed kindness and respect  at the MS function by going out of her way to make sure her classmate was taken care of.

Grade 8

Nefertiti Cheung served as a buddy to a new student in the first weeks of school and, in the process, extended her helpful and friendly attitude to all of her classmates in a way that  helped to build a strong sense of community in our class!

Kevin Hong demonstrated service and creativity as he went above and beyond as DJ for the Back to School Bash. He put time and effort into the job and his excellent musical taste resulted in a fantastic dance for all. Thanks for a great start to the functions, Kevin!

Haylie Wampler showed great creativity in her Chinese class work. She is using a variety of visuals to support her ideas so to make her expressions more effective and attractive to the audience.

I am going to score a lot of goals, Mell Mbaoh said on the way to the Olympic Day soccer field.  But as I reffed the afternoon games I did not see Mell score a single goal. What he did do is show off some impressive dribbling skills and pass off the ball some someone else could score. Respect.

The Ten Best Vintage Engagement Rings from Trumpet & Horn

A dream came true over the weekend. Trumpet & Horn sent me a package of jewels, ten to be exact, and I got to live, laugh, love with them for a few days. Of course, every Cinderella has a midnight clock waiting to strike, and I had to send them all back--but don't be sad, if any of these catch your fancy, you can own them!  So my dream does have a happy ending.

Trumpet & Horn has been the leading online destination for gorgeous antique and vintage jewelry since 2012. Since launching four years ago, they have made hundreds of brides happy with engagement rings and wedding bands. They've collaborated with wedding dress designer Claire Pettibone on an exclusive collection of rings and bands, reminiscent of her intricate bridal dresses and style. The collection is quite the success, you must check out the gallery of designs.  Trumpet & Horn also has their own vintage-inspired collection of rings, along with their authentic vintage and antique jewelry sourced from all over by owner Jerry and his team.

I've been enjoying the Trumpet & Horn newsletter for years--they provide "new arrivals" every Tuesday right to your inbox. It is worth signing up for, especially if you are busy and forget to consistently check their website. You never know if your dream ring might be the next new arrival! You would have first dibs easily! Also in September (tomorrow!) Trumpet & Horn is offering 15% off all sapphires during the month, so some great incentive for all you sapphire lovers out there!

Enjoy the photos of the ten rings and get the full break down of each below:

Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip

1. Just the right amount of color, this Persian turquoise cluster ring is a little glam and a little low key. Its journey didn't start out as a ring--it actually was an earring and has now been transformed perfectly by Trumpet & Horn. I love the shank that they have added--it is super comfortable and the split-shank style is so fitting.

Ring is called Bridgeton, Price: $2,950

2. These bold step cut aquamarine rings were popular during the late Art Deco, early Retro period. I've seen quite a few in my time from appraising jewelry for five years, but this particular ring is different than the other similar ones. For starters, it isn't as huge and fake-looking as most--sure it is still a bold piece, but the size of the aquamarine (approx. 10 carats) is surprisingly ideal. I would want this as my "something blue" if I were getting married!

Ring is called St. Tropez, Price: $4,250

Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip

3. Mesmerizing moonstone. I just can't get enough of this gemstone and it seems to be gaining in popularity. This particular ring shows off everything wonderful about this gem--the solitaire setting really focuses all attention to the stone. It is simple yet bold enough to stand alone. But if you are stack-obsessed, this can do that too!

Ring is called Resthaven, Price: $1,050

4. When I unwrapped this sapphire and diamond cluster ring from Trumpet & Horn, my mouth dropped. The ring was glowing in the light. I have a sweet spot for Victorian jewelry and this ring dates back to the late 1800s. The Old Mine cut diamonds that surround the sapphire make it even more special, totaling approximately 0.80 carats.

Ring is called Oakley, Price: $4,500

Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip

5. Another phenomenal gemstone that we can't get enough of: Opals. This ring is all-original Victorian Era and features three oval cut opals that have some major fire! If you look at some of the photos above that depict this opal ring, the flashes of color are pretty glorious. I loved stacking it with the peridot ring, so you can see it easily stacks. Whatever gemstone it pairs with, those colors are brought out in the opals. So neat!

Ring is called Brushy Ridge, Price: $1,975

6. And here is the peridot ring I just mentioned! Peridot was a popular choice of gemstone during the Victorian Era and this ring is a fine example of just that. August's birthstone is sometimes hard to find--there are lots of diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald jewels out there--but you don't often see peridot. Any August babies out there looking for your perfect birthstone ring, this is it!

Ring is called Grand Isle, Price: $3,950

Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip

7. A golden ring consisting of a natural ruby, an amazing silhouette in a navette shape and sparkling diamonds to finish it off. This ring has it all. If you like your rubies more on the pink-side of the spectrum, this is a good choice for you. It dates back to the Victorian Era and done in 18k yellow gold. Would make the best unconventional engagement ring.

Ring is called Prairie, Price: $2,100

8. This emerald and white sapphire cluster ring for those who like their clusters more reminiscent of floral patterns. I love the size of this ring in general and the comfort level is a 10/10. Set with an oval cut emerald approximately 0.50 carat surrounded by white sapphires--yes, you may have first glanced and thought these were diamonds.  I did too! Makes it very affordable and budget-friendly.

Ring is called Stratton, Price: $1,750

Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip Trumpet & Horn | Gem Gossip

9. Garnet lovers rejoice! Trumpet & Horn has a big, juicy garnet for you and it comes in this ring setting that shows it off impeccably. This early Victorian ring features an oval cut garnet in a six-prong setting with hand-engraved details on the side. I think this ring would be perfect for a January birthday gift, or if you're celebrating a January anniversary...or maybe even a push present for an upcoming January baby.

Ring is called Whitmore, Price: $1,275

10. We couldn't do a top ten ring countdown without including a pearl ring in the mix. This one is extra special because it features some calibre cut synthetic rubies surrounding it and also has a French origin (French hallmarks). Love the two-tone metal, with the yellow gold shank with white gold accents.

Ring is called Red Roof, Price: $1,250

This post was brought to you in collaboration with Trumpet & Horn.

3 Ways to Pack Your Necklaces without Getting Them Tangled

Out of all your jewelry collection, it’s probably your necklaces that make your head ache when packing for a move or travel.  If you want to travel in style without the hassle of having your necklaces turning into one tangled mess, check out these 3 ways to keep your necklaces organized:

MAISON MARGIELA FINE JEWELRY Pompadour Deconstructed Necklace

Straws
There is a nifty way to prevent your necklaces from tangling–and it’s one of our favorite jewelry-packing tips. Take a plastic drinking straw and feed an unclasped necklace through the center. Then close the clasp once again. Do this for each necklace or bracelet you believe might get tangled with one another. Toilet paper rolls are a great alternative for chunkier necklaces. Source: Rent

Plastic Wrap
Put down a layer of plastic wrap, lay your necklaces out, and then cover with another layer of plastic wrap. Press the two layers together around your necklaces to keep them separated. Gently fold or roll your wrapped necklaces so that they create a small bundle that’s easy to pack in your suitcase.
Less bulky necklaces, like pendants on chains, work best with this method. You can also pack bracelets this way, but buttons will work best for earrings. While the plastic wrap will provide some protection, if your bundle has any particularly delicate jewelry in it, wrap clothing around the bundle for added padding. Source: Lifehacker

Ziploc Bags
Use the tiny Ziploc bags that extra buttons come in when you buy clothes. They’re great for holding a thin necklace, a pair of earrings or a pendant for a necklace. Source: PearlsofTravelWisdom

Mr. Locksmith is a BC Government Licensed Locksmith

For further info go to http://mrlocksmith.com/

Hi, I’m Terry from Mr. LockSmith. We are a BC government-licensed locksmith company. All of our Mr. LockSmith locksmiths have been criminal records checks, nobody has a criminal record. We are licensed, insured and bonded. We’re BC government licensed. A huge problem in the Lower Mainland is the scammer locksmiths. They’re unlicensed, they’re advertising mostly in Google AdWords, they say $15 or $25, they will do the service call. No reputable locksmith will come out for $15 and do your re-key or do your lockout. The scammers end up charging you hundreds of dollars, they will rip you off, a lot of times they will do cash only, and you have no idea who came to your house and did your job. Usually they come two of them, and they intimidate you into paying you cash. Recently in the Lower Mainland, they got the customer, they did the re-key, they got the customer, they drove them to their bank so they could get cash, why the customer was inside at the ATM, they drove back to the house, with the key now, opened up the house and ripped off lots of stuff outta their house. So again, don’t trust these $15, $25 unlicensed locksmiths. Mr. LockSmith is a reputable BC government licensed and insured locksmith company. All of our locksmiths have had criminal record checks, and nobody has a criminal record. We take Visa, Mastercard, or cash. Our machines always work, they’re never down, you don’t have to run to your bank. Don’t trust these 15 or 25 dollar unlicensed locksmiths, they will rip you off.

Borussia Dortmund 16/17 Tactics: Tuchel’s new-look side eyeing greatness

It’s been a difficult few years for Borussia Dortmund, with Bayern Munich’s return to greatness coming hand-in-hand with a period where BVB were absent from the Champions League. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side are back in form and have a great chance of winning the Bundesliga this term, with Bayern settling under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Last year, Dortmund finished ten points behind Bayern but were the highest-scoring team in the Bundesliga, whilst only Bayern conceded less goals than them. With very positive moves in the transfer market, Dortmund can expect a strong season ahead and will fancy themselves in the Champions League- despite drawing defending champions Real Madrid.

Ahead of the Bundesliga’s kick-off this weekend, where Dortmund host Mainz, Top Eleven looks at how Tuchel’s side could set-up this season.

Borussia Dortmund - Formation

There’s set to be no changes between the sticks, with Swiss international Roman Burki getting the nod ahead of Roman Weidenfeller, but the defence in front of him has some alterations following the loss of Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich.

New signings Marc Barta and Raphael Guerreiro, who arrived from Barcelona and Lorient respectively, will take their spots in the back-line alongside experienced Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders following the loss of Hummels, and veteran full-back Łukasz Piszczek.

Sven Bender will provide a cushion to the defence from his deep midfield role, which will allow the trio of midfielders ahead of him to have a greater impact in attack. Marco Reus will once again be a key-player for Thomas Tuchel’s side but the two new signings alongside him will provide a big boost.

Mario Gotze, returning to the club where he made his name after a difficult few years with Bayern Munich, is likely to feature in the centre alongside the man that assisted him for the World Cup winning goal against Argentina two-years ago, Andre Schurrle. The former Chelsea man made a big impact with Wolfsburg upon his return to the Bundesliga last season and should provide the same to Dortmund this term.

With support from Reus, Gotze and Schurrle, striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be looking for another solid campaign. The Gabonese international stayed with the club this summer despite a wealth of interest from across Europe and will now be looking to increase his goal tally with Dortmund- which currently stands at 54 Bundesliga goals in 94 matches.

Borussia Dortmund - Tactics

His new striker partner is youngster Ousmane Dembele, fresh from a solid breakthrough year in Ligue 1 with Rennes last term, and the 19-year-old has the capability to be an instant hit at the Westfalenstadion but Thomas Tuchel may use the French youth-ace sparingly in order to reduce the pressure upon him.

Despite losing Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan this summer, Dortmund enter the new campaign looking like a stronger side and their squad is bolstered by the likes of Emre Mor, Shinji Kagawa, Sebastian Rode, Julian Weigl, Erik Durm and Christian Pulisic- all of whom are ready to come into the side when required.

Book Review: Fancy Color Diamonds - The Pricing Architecture

Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip Fancy Color Diamond Book | Gem Gossip

Pricing fancy colored diamonds has always been sort of an art for appraisers and diamond dealers—so many factors come into play, lots of unchartered territory. Not to mention, it is so market-driven with many unknowns. To make things even more difficult, fancy colored diamonds are multi-layered themselves, with several factors which come into play when determining a value.

Fancy colored diamonds are such a specialized category of diamonds, and yes, the fancy color diamond circle is small and exclusive. Often times, this category within the jewelry industry can be seen as intimidating—mostly because it is a specialized area of expertise. Here’s where the experts come into play. People like Eden Rachminov who has dedicated several years of researching fancy colored diamonds in order to write and release a book which delves into the pricing architecture of this interesting, market-driven world of colored diamonds.

Mr. Rachminov has written two books, the first called The Fancy Color Diamond Book, which we won’t be focusing on in this blog post, but it debuted in 2010 and is the first installment of all things FCD. The second book, Fancy Color Diamonds: The Pricing Architecture, is the book I received above and am reviewing here. It features 10 years worth of research and data collection, along with insight from first-hand experience in the business to formulate a new system for valuing fancy color diamonds. “The Layer System” presented in this book is a unique approach to illustrate the many impactful commercial characteristics absent from the GIA gemological report. Each attribute is represented as a “layer” and each layer is a chapter in the book. The impressive Appendix accompanied with the book includes 15 premium charts and over 10,000 coefficient tables that decode the complex fancy color pricing structure and the premiums each characteristic imparts.

This book is ideal for anyone in the jewelry industry that wants to better understand fancy color diamonds. Whether you’re a diamond miner, an appraiser, a sales associate or collector, this book can fit your niche and help you find insight. I love the gorgeous and vibrant photos of fancy color diamonds within the book (a few shown above). My favorite quote from the book juxtaposes what most are familiar with when we think of diamonds—colorless stones. It says, “In the colorless diamond world, buyers pursue “less:” less color, fewer inclusions and little if no fluorescence, to the point where the “void” symbolizes perfection.” This is so not the case for fancies. And this book will show you what I mean!

Fancy Colored Diamonds: The Pricing Architecture is practical, straight forward and aims to educate. It is also complex and at times challenging, but the wealth of information is incredible!

Open Sentry Safes in Seconds | Mr. Locksmith Blog

Open Sentry Safes in Seconds | Mr. Locksmith Blog. For further info go to www.mrlocksmith.com/

Both Electronic Sentry Safes look the same but different serial numbers. The first Sentry Safe is on the recall list and the second Sentry Safe is not on the recall list. Both appear to be exactly the same and both are vulnerable to rare earth magnets.

When I checked the serial numbers on the Sentry safe website, one safe the serial number starts with an “A” and is on the recall list. I called Sentry and they are sending me an upgrade kit.

Note: Three (3) weeks now and I still have not received the upgrade kit.

The second safes serial number starts with a B and the Sentry website states this safe is not on the recall list.

I do not see any difference externally. When I was on the Sentry website with the “recalled” safe webpage I was linked to a webpage and the recall letters stated “a Canadian locksmith with a hockey puck rare earth magnet is occasionally opening up safes.” I open lots of Electronic safes with rare earth magnets and so does our entire locksmith company and many other locksmiths in North America.
Examining the solenoids on both safe after I opened them with the magnet they look exactly the same.

Now we’ll take out the inside panels and we’ll just take a look at each one. So when I compare these two safes everything looks the same. Solenoid, actually that solenoid is exactly … That’s that version the affected and the unaffected or the recalled and the non recalled. This one has a green dot, green dot. I don’t see any difference in the wiring, the construction, nothing so, this ones recalled, this ones not. A series recalled, B series not recalled but as you saw simple easy to open.

I will buy a brand new one of Electronic Sentry safes and test it and see what happens. Sentry states “A” is on the recall list and is potentially vulnerable to being opened with a magnet and ‘B”,is not recalled and not vulnerable?
